In this post I'm going to talk about my favorite place in Sikkim which is the Khecheopalri Lake!
Pronounced as Kha-Chot-Plari and located in West Sikkim is one of the most peaceful areas I've ever been to!
It's considered to be a wish fulfilling lake and it's sacred for both Buddhists and Hindus. An interesting fact that I heard when I was there is that leaves aren't allowed to float on the lake, which is ensured by the birds which industriously pick them up as soon as they drop on the water surface. Shocking isn't it?
One thing I loved most about this place was the silence and how tidy it was kept. It is rare for a Chennai girl like me to see a huge place, welcoming people from all over the world, to keep a place so clean and not making noise.
The above picture shows the prayer wheels on the sides, which leads to the lake. You spin them when you walk to and fro. It's said that the prayers and the wishes you make there do actually come true so obviously, I made the most of it!
If you do get a chance to go to Sikkim, this place should be on your itinerary. You'll thank me later on haha!
Stay tuned to know more about my trip to Sikkim!
Bubye for now.
Picnic by the lake doesn't really have the same ring to it but we can try.🤔
